A quintessential Gen Y story, submerge explores the current pressures on young adults to make their mark on the world, whilst juggling with the competing demands of family, peers and the absolute belief of Gen Y that they can have it all, and should, right here, right now
For Jordan, university life brings the promise of new experiences and a chance to break away from the pressure placed on her by her family to pursue her burgeoning career as an elite swimmer. Through her newly discovered passions, the study of history and her academic tutor, Angie, Jordan opens her eyes to the possibility of a new path, one that she herself controls.
Instead, Jordan finds a different set of demands being placed on her. She is drawn into a situation over which she has no control, as Angie, struggling with the liaison and her own demons, pushes Jordan away.
This rejection, coupled with Jordan's chance meeting with a sophisticated nightclub owner Delilah, sends Jordan into a spiralling cycle of self-destruction as she is introduced to a subculture of fetish and anonymous sex. Her search for answers may, ultimately, only come from her ability to understand that it is only through submission she can reclaim the control needed to finally exorcise her fear of rejection and failure.
